"I would not recommend this workshop based on my experience. I paid £400 for a woodworking course but had to stop after being signed off by my doctor due to health reasons. When I contacted the workshop to finish my project, I was told I would have to pay an additional £150 for a 3-hour session. That means I would have paid a total of £550 for a table that was never completed. I didn’t even receive all of the wood required to finish it. The table has no tabletop, only a partially completed drawer, and is missing the drawer front. It is essentially half a table. I’ve been emailing back and forth with the workshop since 2024 trying to resolve this, but the communication has been extremely disappointing. The owner has not responded directly to my emails, yet I am now being chased for the additional £150. I genuinely don’t understand what I am being asked to pay for when my project remains unfinished and incomplete. No table top or drawer front just a half finished frame! Overall, I found the customer service unprofessional and extremely unhelpful. My experience has been very frustrating to say the least, and unfortunately I would not book another course here or recommend it to others."

"Fantastic experience with Edinburgh Open Workshop. They were incredibly responsive over email, answering all my questions quickly and clearly, and gave really helpful advice on the whole process. I had MDF sheets cut to exact measurements for bespoke IKEA wardrobe doors and drawer fronts, and the results were spot on, millimetre perfect cuts and done very quickly. The pricing was also incredibly reasonable for the quality of work. Communication throughout was excellent, and everything felt smooth and professional from start to finish. Huge thanks to JJ and Jimmy for their help, I honestly can’t rate them highly enough."

"I couldn’t have felt more welcome and supported. I have been putting off bringing in a project for months because I felt a bit intimidated as a young women to enter a workshop setting, but staff were so welcoming and accommodating. What was I waiting for! I’ll be back!"

"Attended here with my partner for a summer makers market. It's a small place just around the corner from a main road but an excellent space for creators and people who want to learn about woodwork as they provide workshops and guides as well as purchasable things to assist. There were some food and coffee vendors outside for added convenience too. The market we attended was full of creators of all kinds, artists, woodcuts, jewellery, clothing, prints, postcards, candles and more. We had an excellent time and would recommend to anyone especially the creative types."
